This is my introductory blog post for COSC - Information Systems in Organizations. My name is Jennifer Denbow, but I go by Jenny. I am originally from Oklahoma and have a bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma. I spent a lot of time in Texas growing up, but did not officially live here full-time until 2008. Currently, I live in the Cinco Ranch area of Katy, TX with my daughter, who is in the second grade.

After many years as a bookkeeper, I decided to go back to school to complete my accounting education and sit for the CPA exam. Since my previous degree was not in accounting or business, I have had to take all of my undergraduate accounting classes as well as 24 credit hours in business classes. After this semester I have 3 more accounting classes left to take at the graduate level. During the day, I am a Finance Administrator for a non-profit in Katy.
Although I have a very left-brained career, I have very right-brained/creative hobbies. I enjoy photography, cooking, and crafting. I also enjoy doing volunteer work and helping those less fortunate. I spend most of my computer time editing photos in Adobe Photoshop or reading blogs. At work, I use Intuit QuickBooks and Microsoft Word and Excel on a daily basis. I am looking forward to learning more about information systems in this class and hopefully being able to apply what I've learned in my career.
